Founder Energy Secures RM6.05 Million Subcontract for 29.99 MWac Solar Project in Malaysia

Founder Energy Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Founder Group Limited (NASDAQ: FGL), has been engaged as a subcontractor under Malaysia’s Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP) for the procurement, electrical and mechanical installation, and commissioning of a 29.99MWac large-scale solar photovoltaic project in Kuala Muda, Kedah.

The subcontract is valued at RM6.05 million (approximately US$1.5 million).

Under the Letter of Award (LOA), Founder Energy will undertake procurement, electrical and mechanical installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar facility up to the interconnection point. The scope excludes major equipment that will be procured directly by the main contractor.

Founder Energy will also be responsible for securing and maintaining the approvals, licences, clearances, and permits required for construction and operation of the facility, while ensuring compliance with Prudent Utility Practices and the requirements of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

The project forms part of Malaysia’s broader renewable energy expansion under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which targets a 70% renewable energy capacity share by 2050. The country has introduced several mechanisms to accelerate renewable energy deployment, including CGPP, the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS), and the Solar Accelerated Transition Action Programme (Solar ATAP).

In July 2026, Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) launched the sixth Large-Scale Solar (LSS6) programme, offering 2,500MW of solar capacity. The programme is expected to attract investments of between RM13 billion and RM15 billion (approximately US$3.2 billion to US$3.7 billion).

Founder Group said the combination of corporate renewable energy demand under CGPP and the expanded utility-scale pipeline under LSS6 could create further opportunities for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) services across Malaysia’s solar market.

The company expects demand for EPCC services to increase as energy-intensive businesses seek greater protection from tariff volatility and as Malaysia accelerates the deployment of utility-scale renewable energy capacity. Founder Group also sees opportunities in the commercial and industrial (C&I) segment and in operations and maintenance (O&M) services for solar assets.

Beyond EPCC, Founder Group provides asset lifecycle management services supported by its AI-powered O&M technologies. These include AI-driven diagnostics, predictive maintenance algorithms, and drone-assisted visual and thermal inspections aimed at identifying anomalies and module defects with limited manual intervention.

“Being engaged as subcontractor for the electrical and mechanical installation and commissioning scope on a near-30MW facility reflects the trust that major industry players place in our execution capability,” said Lee Seng Chi, Chief Executive Officer of Founder Group Limited.

“Programmes like CGPP, and now the newly launched LSS6, are central to Malaysia’s renewable energy roadmap. Each subcontract award strengthens our track record and positions us to capture a larger share of the pipeline as the industry scales toward the nation’s 70% renewable energy target by 2050,” he added.
