Shizen Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the group company of Shizen Energy Inc. in Southeast Asia has executed a second long-term Power Purchase Agreement for a rooftop-based solar PV plant with Top Glove Corporation Bhd, the worldโs largest manufacturer of gloves commanding 26% of the global market share which owns and operates 49 manufacturing facilities in Malaysia, Thailand, China and Vietnam, distributing to 195 countries worldwide.
The solar rooftop project is located in Peninsular Malaysia, on the rooftop of the factories of Top Glove. Shizen Malaysia will construct a rooftop solar power plant with a capacity of 10MWp. Supplying clean, cost-competitive renewable energy from this rooftop solar power plant to the factories, the project will contribute to reducing Top Gloveโs average electricity cost while lowering their carbon footprint.
Alvin Koh, CEO of Shizen Malaysia added, โWe are delighted to expand on a long-term partnership with Top Glove, a Company that shares our vision of taking responsibility for our blue planet and cultivating a greener world for all. Given the growing awareness on the benefits of renewable energy (โREโ) and its importance in lessening global warming, we are confident that more industry players will turn to RE at the forefront of their strategic plans and drive a committed environmentalist agenda contributing to Malaysiaโs net-zero carbon initiatives.โย
Top Glove commented, โWith this PPA, Top Gloveโs total solar capacity will increase from 5.34 Megawatt peak (MWp) to 15.47 MWp, saving about 13,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually, the equivalent to planting around 400,000 trees in order to absorb this amount of CO2.โ
