Solis S6 Anvanced Hybrid Inverter

Ginlong (Solis) Technologies, one of the most experienced and largest inverter producers in the world, is launching its new S6 Advanced Power Hybrid Inverter, exclusively for South Africa, at the Solar Show Africa 2023 in Johannesburg from 25th – 26th April. With added generator connection and control functions, it works as a fully independent power centre to perfectly meet the needs of the South African market for residential and C&I projects, where a power outage has become a daily routine.

The Solis S6 Advanced Power Hybrid Inverter introduces significant performance improvements. By enhanced connectivity and control capabilities, Solis S6 Advanced Power Hybrid Inverter enables the easy incorporation of generators with multiple input methods and automatic on/off control. The maximum charging and discharging current has been increased to 190A. At the same time, automatic UPS switching equips homeowners with a truly senseless switching, allowing users to eliminate power outages completely. It has a single and three-phase capability, accommodating up to 6 connections in parallel, with a maximum total load of 48 kW, protected by a 10-second, 200% surge overload capability. Its multiple battery protection features and customisable charge/discharge time settings are compatible with both lead-acid and lithium batteries. With independent generator interfaces and automatic UPS switching, the new range facilitates feeding excess power back to the grid. It supports peak shaving control in both โ€œself-useโ€ and โ€œgeneratorโ€ modes.

James Frank, Solis Country Manager for South Africa, says: โ€œSolis has launched a new S6 Advanced Power Hybrid Inverter which combines solar generator and battery connectivity to liberate power-starved households and businesses in South Africa from the unpredictability of daily electrical outages. In particular, peak shaving control in both โ€œself-useโ€ and โ€œgeneratorโ€ modes allow users to prioritise backup power for their most mission-critical loads more flexibly and cost-effectively.โ€

James continues โ€œThis flexibility avoids over-specifying higher capacity inverters, PV arrays, generators and batteries than necessarily required, with considerable CAPEX and OPEX savings over our competition. Thanks to an automatic UPS switching function and a 10-second, 200% surge overload capability, users can be confident of a seamless supply during grid interruptions, even for the most sensitive electronic equipment.โ€

Thabo Makhanya, Chief Sales Officer at Segen, comments “Unpredictable, lengthy and multiple electricity outages have become a part of daily life for individuals and businesses across South Africa. We were delighted to cooperate so closely with Solis to successfully develop, trial and prove a flexible and reliable inverter solution that alleviates long-term power shortages’ considerable economic and social impact. Although this S6 Advanced Power Hybrid range has been configured for South Africa’s specific and immediate needs, we look forward to working with Solis to roll out some of its key features in similarly power-constrained regions.”

James concludes โ€œAlthough the solar sector in South Africa is young compared to Europe and the Americas, it is expanding exponentially. To help installers maximise this growing opportunity, Solis offers comprehensive market intelligence, product training and service support; backed up by a fully equipped test lab. Solis is confident that its combination of knowledgeable local teams, tailored configurations for South Africaโ€™s unique challenges, and strong product availability make it a compelling choice for distributors, installers and end users alike.โ€
