Melaka-based property developer, Teladan Setia Group Berhad, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Teladan Setia Sdn Bhd (TSSB), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with solar photovoltaic (PV) service provider, Micro Energy Holdings (M) Sdn Bhd (MEH) to install solar PV systems in its Taman Bertam Heights Phase 2A Gated and Guarded housing development project in Melaka to create a greener and energy-efficient living environment for home buyers.
Through this collaboration, Teladan will install solar PV systems ranging from 2 kilowatt-peak (KWp) to 4KWp for 352 housing units within the said development. These solar-ready homes are expected to significantly reduce electricity costs for homeowners, potentially resulting in savings of up to 75%.
Teladan has appointed MEH as the turnkey engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) provider for the project. MEH has extensive experience in delivering comprehensive solar PV systems solutions for residential, commercial and industrial users.
Teladan’s Executive Director, Mr Francis Sia Ah Piew said, “We are proud to be the pioneer of green development in Melaka by being the first property developer to install solar systems for home buyers. In conjunction with the Malaysian Government’s Net Energy Metering Rakyat 3.0 (NEM) programme, we are committed to playing our part in the nation’s sustainability efforts by offering solar-ready homes. Our solar-ready homes are designed to demonstrate that sustainability can be integrated seamlessly into every aspect of sustainable living, serving as an exemplary model for future developments.”
“The pursuit of improving the quality of life of our homeowners is the cornerstone of every development we undertake. In today’s world, we recognise that many households are struggling to cope with the increasing cost of living triggered by high-interest rates and inflationary pressures. Therefore, by offering solar-enabled homes, we aim to provide our homeowners with a sustainable solution that not only relieves them from cost pressures but also helps them to contribute positively to the environment. At Teladan, we are dedicated to building sustainable communities that benefit both our homeowners and the environment,” Mr Richard added.
MEH’s Director, V.Kajendran Raj said, “We are proud to work with Teladan, bringing solar-enabled homes to the people of Melaka. By leveraging our expertise with over 100 megawatts of solar installations and over 1,000 successful Feedin Approvals (FiAs), we take great pride in promoting the usage of clean, renewable resources of energy to cut back carbon emissions and slow down global warming. As a key player in the clean energy industry, we recognize the importance of sustainable living and are committed to creating a greener world for our future generations.”
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the housing development project is expected to be launched in the third quarter of the financial year ended 2023 (3Q2023) and to be completed by 2026.
