The approval for PetroGreen Energy Corp.’s 25-megawatt solar power project in Bugallon, Pangasinan, has been granted by Mayor Priscilla Espino. The Yuchengco-led company anticipates commencing operations in January of the coming year at a 25-hectare site in barangay Salomague Sur.
Scheduled to provide renewable energy to the area by the last quarter of 2024, the solar project aims to generate 41,000 MWh of power annually, resulting in a reduction of 29,056 metric tons of carbon emissions. Mayor Espino expressed gratitude for the investment, emphasizing its positive impact on power supply, job creation, social upliftment, and fiscal benefits for Bugallon and Pangasinan province.
Roberto Santos from PGEC acknowledged the full support of Mayor Espino, the Sanggunian Bayan, and the Bugallon community. He emphasized the importance of such local government commitment for the success of private sector investments and the efforts of the Marcos Jr. administration to enhance the country’s renewable energy supply.
PGEC has previously acquired two solar projects in Luzon, one in Nueva Ecija and another in Isabela. Currently operating two solar power facilities in Central Technopark, Tarlac City, with capacities of 50 MW and 20 MW, through its subsidiary PetroSolar Corp, PGEC is also developing a 27-MW solar project in the town of Dagohoy in Bohol.
