In a strategic move towards bolstering clean energy initiatives, BYD has joined forces with Raízen Gera Developer, a joint venture between Raízen and the Gera Group, to enhance distributed generation projects. The collaboration encompasses the deployment of BYD’s solar modules across nine distributed generation photovoltaic plants, spanning locations such as Betânia, Boa Viagem, and Amontada in Ceará, as well as other key regions including Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, and Pará.

With construction already underway, these plants are slated to commence energy generation in May, boasting a total capacity of 26.5 MW. This substantial output is equivalent to powering approximately 5,500 homes on a monthly basis, based on an average consumption of 600 kWh per household.

Under the agreement, BYD assumes the role of Full EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) provider, overseeing every aspect from project inception to execution. The solar energy generated will be integrated into the grid, benefiting Raízen’s business networks and partners by leveraging credits granted by local distributors, thus facilitating savings on energy bills.

This partnership marks yet another milestone in BYD’s commitment to advancing sustainable mobility solutions in Brazil. Earlier collaborations with Raízen Power have paved the way for the establishment of electric charging hubs equipped with the Shell Recharge solution across eight capital cities over the next three years.

In tandem with these endeavors, BYD has introduced a range of innovative charging solutions, including fast and ultra-fast chargers, designed to cater to both residential and public sectors. Among these offerings is the Grid Zero charger, a cutting-edge model that optimizes energy consumption and storage, thereby enhancing grid stability.

In a bid to further streamline access to charging infrastructure, BYD has unveiled the BYD Recharge application, enabling drivers to locate and utilize over 2,800 charging points nationwide, with seamless payment integration. The company’s collaboration with Raízen Power will also see the deployment of 30 electric charging hubs in major cities, facilitating widespread adoption of clean and renewable energy sources.
