In a bold move underscoring its resilience and growth ambitions, the Adani Group, led by its renewable energy division, Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL), has announced a massive investment plan totaling approximately Rs 2.3 lakh crore by the year 2030. This investment is poised to significantly bolster India’s renewable energy infrastructure, marking the country’s most extensive expansion in this sector to date.

AGEL, standing as India’s premier renewable energy entity, is set to allocate around Rs 1.5 lakh crore towards escalating its solar and wind power generation capacity in Khavda, Gujarat, from the current 2 gigawatts (GW) to an impressive 30 GW. This initiative will transform Khavda into the site of the world’s largest renewable energy project, encompassing an area five times the size of Paris and with the potential to generate 81 billion units of electricity, enough to power countries such as Belgium, Chile, and Switzerland.

Further expanding its footprint, AGEL will also invest Rs 50,000 crore in developing an additional 6-7 GW of renewable projects across India. Vneet S Jaain, Managing Director of AGEL, revealed plans to commission 4 GW of capacity in the fiscal year ending March 2025, followed by an annual addition of 5 GW.

Complementing these efforts, Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL), another subsidiary within the conglomerate, is set to pour close to Rs 30,000 crore into enhancing its solar cell and wind turbine manufacturing capabilities at Mundra, Gujarat. This expansion is aimed at not only catering to domestic demands but also targeting the international market.

These ambitious renewable energy projects align with India’s national goals of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil electricity generation by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070.
