UAE Launches Global Energy Efficiency Alliance to Advance Sustainability

Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, announced the establishment of the Global Energy Efficiency Alliance, an initiative led by the UAE to promote the exchange of expertise, global best practices, and successful projects in energy efficiency.

One key initiative involves a study on issuing green and sustainability certificates for government and commercial buildings. These certifications aim to set benchmarks for optimizing energy and water consumption, contributing to the UAE’s broader sustainability goals.

Al Olama also revealed plans to launch a tender for upgrading the efficiency of more than 400 government buildings. This initiative aligns with the UAE’s commitment to improving resource management and reducing environmental impact.

Additionally, he highlighted a pilot project in partnership with Aldar Properties, First Abu Dhabi Bank, and specialized energy solution companies. The project is expected to serve as a model for future collaborations in enhancing building efficiency.

The Global Energy Efficiency Alliance and related projects reaffirm the UAE’s leadership in driving innovation and sustainability within the energy sector, strengthening its position as a global advocate for environmental stewardship.
