The Department of Energy (DOE) and the United Kingdom Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) convened to discuss potential areas of cooperation for the 2026–2027 program cycle, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing the Philippines’ clean energy transition.
DOE Undersecretary Rowena Cristina Guevara led the discussions with officials from the British Embassy Manila and the UK PACT Philippines team. During the meeting, UK PACT presented updates on its four ongoing energy projects and outlined prospective areas for expanded collaboration in the coming year.
According to the briefing, new opportunities may include offshore wind development, deployment of energy storage systems, grid and microgrid enhancements, and initiatives related to carbon market mechanisms. These focus areas are expected to support the Philippines’ long-term renewable energy and decarbonization targets.
The meeting brought together technical experts and senior representatives from the DOE, the British Embassy Manila, and UK PACT, led by Ellen Anthony and Navdeep Gujral, to chart the next phase of partnership activities aimed at delivering high-impact energy solutions across the country.
