Loom Solar has secured an additional land allotment of 33,400 sq. m. (approximately 8.25 acres) at Industrial Model Land Corporation (IMLC), Meerut, from the Government of Uttar Pradesh to expand its solar manufacturing footprint.
The allotment was formalised at Lok Bhawan in the presence of Yogi Adityanath and Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi.
The new facility will operate independently of Loom Solar’s existing 7.5-acre site in Kosi, where a 1.2 GW solar module manufacturing unit is currently under development. Together, the two facilities are expected to significantly scale up the company’s production capacity, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a key hub in India’s domestic solar supply chain.
The Meerut plant will focus on high-throughput solar module manufacturing, supporting Loom Solar’s multi-gigawatt expansion plans and addressing the country’s rising demand for renewable energy in line with India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
The expansion aligns with national initiatives such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, and domestic manufacturing regulations, aimed at reducing reliance on imported solar modules.
In addition to modules, Loom Solar is also scaling its battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio for both utility-scale and distributed applications, with plans to integrate storage manufacturing into its long-term roadmap.
The dual-facility strategy across Kosi and Meerut is expected to generate significant employment opportunities across manufacturing, engineering, and allied sectors, while reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s position as an emerging destination for renewable energy investments.
