Greenvolt Next, which is part of the Greenvolt Group and specialises in renewable energy solutions for the commercial and industrial sector, has announced the successful completion of a 2.2 MWp ground-mounted solar farm at the Astellas Damastown facility in Dublin.This project represents an important step in expanding on-site renewable energy use for industrial operations.
It was delivered by Greenvolt Next in just four months, a relatively short timeline that is increasingly important for companies aiming to improve energy security and reduce exposure to volatile energy markets. The company managed the entire development process, starting from concept and design, through to installation and final commissioning. Even after completion, Greenvolt Next continues to support the site through maintenance services and ongoing performance monitoring to ensure long-term efficiency.
The solar installation is now fully operational and consists of 3,192 solar panels along with five inverters. Together, these systems supply around 27 percent of the electricity required at the Astellas Dublin facility. In addition to reducing reliance on external energy sources, the project is expected to cut approximately 310 tonnes of Scope 2 carbon dioxide emissions every year, contributing significantly to the site’s sustainability targets.
Beyond its immediate energy benefits, the project also plays a role in strengthening operational resilience for Astellas Dublin. By generating a substantial portion of electricity on-site, the facility can reduce energy cost fluctuations and improve long-term predictability in energy supply. This aligns with broader sustainability goals and supports stable industrial operations.The design of the solar farm also takes future expansion into account.
The system has been engineered with flexibility in mind, allowing for the addition of extra inverters and the potential integration of battery energy storage systems in the future. This means the facility can scale up its renewable energy capacity as operational needs grow, supporting long-term decarbonisation planning.The project is also part of Astellas’ wider commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.
By investing in renewable energy infrastructure, the company continues to strengthen its environmental performance while contributing positively to broader societal goals.Environmental and ecological considerations were also integrated into every stage of the project. Special attention was given to protecting and enhancing biodiversity across the site. This included the installation of large bug hotels made from reclaimed tree stumps, placement of bat boxes to support local wildlife, and the planting of multiple native Irish trees to improve the surrounding ecosystem.
These measures were designed to ensure that the project supports not only clean energy generation but also long-term ecological balance.The solar farm is also visible from the site’s 1.1 km riverwalk, providing employees and visitors with a direct view of the renewable energy installation. This visibility helps reinforce awareness of the facility’s sustainability efforts and commitment to environmental responsibility.
Speaking about the project, Gino Gautier, Global CEO DG of Greenvolt Group, highlighted that the installation demonstrates how efficiently on-site renewable energy solutions can be delivered at industrial scale. He noted that completing the project in just four months shows the company’s ability to combine speed with high-quality execution, which is increasingly important for organisations dealing with uncertain energy conditions.

According to him, the solar farm delivered by Greenvolt Next within a short timeframe enhances the company’s sustainability performance and provides flexibility for future expansion. He also acknowledged the technical expertise and support provided by Greenvolt Next, which has already begun delivering measurable operational benefits.
