The Solar-Plus-Storage Demonstration Project at the Guayasamín Museum in Ecuador has officially commenced electricity generation, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition toward sustainable energy.
The project was spearheaded and co-funded by the Chinese Embassy in Ecuador, with joint support from Chinese and Ecuadorian enterprises. Designed to generate nearly 100,000 kWh of electricity annually, the system is expected to meet the museum’s entire electricity demand using 100% renewable energy.
The initiative serves as a model for the low-carbon transformation of Ecuador’s cultural institutions while supporting the country’s broader green development objectives.
POWERCHINA, which has been operating in Ecuador for 16 years, highlighted the project as another example of its long-term commitment to the country. The company stated that, under the guidance of the Chinese Embassy, it will continue to strengthen China-Ecuador cooperation by leveraging its expertise to support Ecuador’s sustainable development and deepen bilateral ties.
