PT Indika Energy To Develop Solar Power In Indonesia

Investment company with a diversified business portfolio, PT Indika Energy Tbk. (Indika Energy) will continue to develop the potential of renewable energy, especially solar power in Indonesia. This effort is carried out through a subsidiary, Empat Mitra Indika Solar Power (EMITS), the company integrated solar solutions provider in Indonesia. To date, EMITS has expanded its portfolio through the installation of solar photovoltaic (PV), sustainable port development (green port), to the construction of PLTS hybrid combination of solar PV with the largest battery capacity in Indonesia.

This was confirmed when EMITS held a panel discussion with Fourth Partner Energy, an Indian company solar energy solutions developer – who was Indika Energy’s partner in establishing EMITS. “Fourth Partner Energy’s skills and competencies for more than 10 years have helped us to continue to develop the potential of solar energy in Indonesia. This of course is part of Indika’s efforts Energy in supporting the national energy transition and increasing the competitiveness of the renewable energy industry in Indonesia,” said Azis Armand, Deputy President Director and Group CEO of Indika Energy.

EMITS itself targets to get an installation contract of 80 – 100 MWp in 2022 and 500 MWp by 2025. “To achieve this target, EMITS targets the industrial, commercial, and utility segments. We cooperate with various private and government parties, including PLN,” said Yovie Priadi, President Director and CEO of EMITS. Meanwhile, for the Fourth Partner Energy, Indonesia is the largest country in Southeast Asia has great potential in the development of solar power. “In India itself development PLTS has been a national program for more than a decade, we will continue to share knowledge and experience through EMITS to be able to further develop solar power in Indonesia and intensify the decarbonization steps taken by Indika Energy Group,” said Vivek Subramanian, CoFounder and Executive Director of Fourth Partner Energy.

So far, EMITS has partnered with several leading companies in Indonesia which conduct business in plantation areas, pulp and paper, power generation, mining, wood products, office buildings, ports (green ports). In March 2022, EMITS signed an agreement with PT Mangole Timber Producer which is part of the Sampoerna Kayoe Group to build PLTS ground-mounted with a capacity of 12 MWp and a 3 MWh battery system in the Sampoerna Kayoe operational area Group located in Mangole, North Maluku. Currently, its battery capacity is the largest in the world in Indonesia.

The establishment of EMITS is part of an effort to increase 50% of revenues from the non-coal sector by 2025 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
