The company aims to unlock off-grid, clean, and reliable energy alternatives as part of its efforts to achieve its 2040 Net Zero targets. MTN’s hybrid energy RFI calls for innovative solutions across solar, wind, hydro, and other alternative sources that have no emissions associated with energy generation.

The solutions must be scalable, offer high availability and efficiency, and seamlessly integrate with MTN’s telecommunication equipment. By transitioning to renewable energy, MTN aims to reduce reliance on unstable grids and carbon-emitting fuels, resulting in a decrease in diesel consumption. Interested parties have until June 19 to submit their proposals.

This initiative follows MTN’s commitment to the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2021, which promotes best practices in science-based target setting and supports the company’s Net Zero 2040 ambition. MTN has already undertaken sustainability initiatives, including the construction of a solar park at its headquarters and signing its first power purchase agreement (PPA) with a renewable power producer.
