In a significant development, Mr. Joshit Ranjan Sikidar assumed the role of Director (Finance) at the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) on September 12, 2023. Mr. Sikidar brings a wealth of financial expertise and experience to his new position, boasting an impressive professional background as a Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, Cost Accountant, and MBA (Finance) with over 30 years of post-qualification experience.
Prior to his appointment as Director (Finance) at SECI, Mr. Sikidar held the position of Group General Manager (Finance) and Company Secretary at RITES Limited. His professional journey spans more than four years at RITES, over 16 years at NSPCL (a joint venture of NTPC & SAIL), and more than nine years at SAIL – Bhilai Steel Plant. His diverse experience encompasses various aspects of finance, including Finance Establishment, Corporate Expenditure, Corporate Taxation Cell, Treasury Functions, Expotech Finance, Compliances, and Corporate Governance.
SECI, a Miniratna Category-I CPSU under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, is currently playing a pivotal role in the advancement of the renewable energy sector. As a nodal agency for numerous schemes of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), SECI is actively involved in the implementation of these initiatives. Furthermore, the corporation has expanded its reach by undertaking solar project development on a turnkey basis for several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and government departments. SECI’s involvement also extends to the power trading domain, with the company holding a Category-1 power trading license and actively participating in the trading of solar power generated by projects established under the schemes it administers.
Mr. Sikidar’s appointment is expected to contribute significantly to SECI’s continued growth and its critical role in driving the renewable energy sector in India.
