Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia), N.U.R Power Sdn Bhd (NUR Power), and JS Solar Sdn Bhd (JS Solar) have entered into a partnership to develop a groundbreaking Smart and Green Industrial Park within the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) in Kedah, Malaysia.
This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to study, design, and establish a Green and Smart Energy Transition Roadmap for KHTP, intending to set a significant benchmark in Malaysia’s sustainable energy sector.
NUR Power will act as the strategic Independent Power Utility operator, while Huawei Malaysia will provide technological support. JS Solar will serve as the strategic partner responsible for project development.
Key objectives include integrating Huawei Malaysia’s Solar Smart PV technology into NUR Power’s infrastructure to enhance energy generation efficiency and reliability. Additionally, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions will be implemented to mitigate renewable energy variability and promote greater adoption of renewable energy in KHTP. Huawei Malaysia will also assist NUR Power in establishing Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure to support electric mobility growth.
Furthermore, the collaboration will involve joint research studies on integrating grid-forming solutions into the KHTP utility grid. This includes exploring advanced technologies such as Smart Solar PV Inverters to improve the grid’s adaptability to variable renewable energy sources. Evaluation and implementation of Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) solutions will also enhance grid resilience during voltage fluctuations.
Chong Chern Peng, Vice President of Digital Power Business at Huawei Malaysia, expressed pride in the collaboration, highlighting Huawei’s expertise in providing end-to-end energy solutions. He emphasized the partnership’s potential to elevate KHTP’s status as an innovative industrial park.
Ikwan Hafiz Jamaludin, Group Managing Director of NUR Power, emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving industrial sustainability and promoting eco-friendly practices.
Johnson Chai, Managing Director of JS Solar, expressed confidence in the partnership’s ability to advance sustainable energy development in KHTP and beyond, aiming to set a notable benchmark for Malaysia’s sustainable energy sector.
Overall, the collaboration among Huawei Malaysia, NUR Power, and JS Solar seeks to foster a greener, more resilient future for Malaysia’s industrial landscape.
