Sunmaxx, a German FVT module manufacturer, has officially opened a state-of-the-art factory in Ottendorf-Okrilla, near Dresden, Germany. The newly inaugurated facility boasts an impressive annual capacity of 50 MW, equivalent to producing 120,000 modules per year, making it the largest FVT production plant worldwide. Sunmaxx has ambitious plans to scale up its capacity to 3 GW in the future.
The modules manufactured at the plant are designed to provide both electricity and heat to residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Sunmaxx has incorporated thermal management technology from renowned German automotive company Mahle, seamlessly integrating it with photovoltaic technology.
Certified by the German Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE), Sunmaxx’s PX-1 modules boast an impressive overall efficiency of 80%. These modules, measuring 1,750 mm x 1,140 mm x 38 mm, are equipped with 108 M10 format PERC half cells, delivering an electrical power output of 400 W with an efficiency of approximately 20%.
In addition to generating electricity, the panels also offer a heat output of 1,200W, corresponding to an EtaO thermal collector efficiency of 60%. This efficiency was measured by the German institute under optimal conditions of maximum power point in full sunlight, with a module temperature of 25°C and zero wind speed.
Sunmaxx’s new factory represents a significant advancement in FVT module manufacturing and underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in the renewable energy sector.
