JERA Co., JERA Cross Inc., Setagaya City, The University of Tokyo’s School of Engineering, TRENDE Inc., and Alternative Technology & Products, have come together to collaborate on promoting decarbonization in residential areas. In urban areas with limited space for large power plants, solar energy on rooftops presents the greatest opportunity for renewable power generation. To fully tap into this potential, itโs important to maximize local renewable energy production and consumption.
As the use of renewable energy grows, challenges like supply-demand fluctuations and rising electricity prices are emerging, making peer-to-peer (P2P) electricity trading a platform that connects individual energy producers and consumers. Additionally, creating regional energy networks that use local power sources can boost the value of renewable energy, stimulate local communities, and support local generation and consumption.
The six organizations, combining their expertise in social decarbonization, P2P electricity trading systems, and advanced renewable energy technologies, will collaborate to find ways to optimize renewable energy in residential areas. Their goal is to enhance local energy generation and consumption while maximizing the potential of these energy sources.
