Artisun Solar, a leading commercial solar developer, has announced the completion of one of the largest rooftop solar projects in Oklahoma. The project was developed for Steel & Pipe Supply Co. at their Catoosa facilities and represents a significant advancement for renewable energy infrastructure in the state. The solar installation spans two separate locations. At the Fort Gibson Road warehouse, Artisun Solar installed a 1,250-kilowatt (kW) system, while a 950-kW system was set up at the Bird Creek Avenue facility. Together, the two systems have a combined capacity of 2,200 kW.
Over their expected lifespan, these installations are projected to offset more than 58,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, making a substantial environmental impact. By converting their expansive rooftop spaces into energy-generating assets, Steel & Pipe Supply Co. has taken a major step towards sustainable operations. This initiative not only strengthens the companyโs commitment to environmental responsibility but also positions it as a leader in energy innovation within Oklahomaโs industrial sector.
Kirk Kreisel, CEO of Artisun Solar, said in a statement, โThis project represents a significant step forward for renewable energy in Oklahoma. To work with a forward-thinking company like Steel & Pipe Supply is an honor. Together, we are demonstrating the economic and operational benefits of solar energy while paving the way for future developments in this region.”
John Conley, Co-President of Steel & Pipe Supply, also stated, โThis project is a testament to our commitment to sustainable energy solutions and a prime example of how businesses in our space can reduce operational costs while aligning with long-term sustainability goals. We look forward to future collaborations that drive positive environmental and economic impact.โ
The solar systems are designed to lower Steel & Pipe Supplyโs annual energy costs significantly. Additionally, the installations will provide long-term protection against rising utility rates, helping the company manage operational expenses more effectively. Importantly, the project was completed without causing any disruptions to the companyโs daily activities, ensuring a seamless transition to solar energy. The completion of this project marks a key milestone for Artisun Solar and highlights the growing role of solar power in supporting industrial businesses across Oklahoma.
