ERC Highlights Regulatory Reforms to Accelerate the Philippines’ Renewable Energy Transition at National Summit

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) reaffirmed its commitment to driving a just and inclusive energy transition during the 2nd Philippines Future Energy and Grid Summit 2025, held on October 9, 2025, at Seda BGC Hotel in Taguig City.

Representing the Commission, Executive Director Atty. Nancy Aurora Q. Fajardo addressed both international and local energy stakeholders under the theme “The Path to Just Energy Transition: Powering the Philippines’ Renewable Future.” The summit provided a platform for the ERC to share key regulatory initiatives designed to strengthen the country’s renewable energy ecosystem.

In her presentation, Fajardo outlined several regulatory innovations advancing renewable energy deployment, including compliance mechanisms for the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS), promotion of the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP), and enhanced implementation of both the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) and the Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP). These programs, she noted, are essential for attracting renewable energy investments and enabling competitive power pricing in the market.

Fajardo also emphasized the ERC’s ongoing efforts to modernize grid infrastructure, advocating for smarter grid technologies that enhance flexibility, reliability, and resilience. She further discussed initiatives to empower consumers through a streamlined Net-Metering Program for Renewable Energy and greater integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) across the power sector.

Reiterating the Commission’s progressive approach to governance, Fajardo underscored the ERC’s goal to ensure that all Filipinos benefit from the nation’s energy transformation.

“At the ERC, we remain steadfast in our commitment—to regulate with courage, innovate with foresight, and serve with integrity. Together, let us drive the energy transformation and move toward a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient energy future for the Philippines,” she said in her closing remarks.

The summit convened key leaders from the energy industry, government agencies, and private sector, reflecting the Philippines’ collective push toward a cleaner, smarter, and more equitable energy future.
