NHPC Limited, recognized as India’s leading hydropower organization and a prominent central public sector entity under the Ministry of Power, has successfully secured a contract to establish a 200 MW solar power facility. This significant project will be part of the expansive 1,125 MW Renewable Energy Park owned by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (GSECL), located in the Khavda area of Gujarat’s Kachchh district.

The initiative is anticipated to produce approximately 473 million units of electricity during its initial year post-commissioning. Over the span of 25 years, it is expected to generate a total of around 10,850 million units of energy. The development of this solar power project will adhere to a build-own-and-operate model, with the estimated investment reaching about Rs. 847 crores.

This bid was finalized following an e-reverse auction organized by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited on March 2, 2024. Subsequently, the Letter of Intent was issued on March 14, 2024, marking the official commencement of NHPC’s involvement in the project. The agreed-upon electricity tariff stands at Rs. 2.66 per unit. Moreover, the project is scheduled for completion within an 18-month timeframe.
