
The inaugural UAE-Lithuania Joint Economic Committee (JEC) meeting took place in Vilnius, highlighting a commitment to advancing cooperation in various sectors, with a particular emphasis on energy and renewable resources. Chaired by H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, and H.E. Auลกrinฤ Armonaitฤ, Lithuanian Minister of Economy and Innovation, the meeting marked a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations.
The UAE delegation, which included representatives from major government entities and national companies such as the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and Masdar, engaged in discussions that underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships in the energy sector. The focus was on boosting cooperation and investments in energy technologies, sustainable energy sources, and liquefied natural gas.
H.E. Bin Touq emphasized the growing economic ties between the UAE and Lithuania, highlighting their shared goals in advancing energy sustainability. The meeting featured a detailed agenda on enhancing collaboration in the fields of advanced energy technology and renewable energy. Both countries agreed to explore joint projects and investment opportunities aimed at accelerating the transition to cleaner energy solutions.
The discussions also included the development of new initiatives in renewable energy, particularly solar and wind power. The UAE and Lithuania expressed a mutual interest in fostering innovation and research in these areas to drive the global energy transition and meet future demands.
The event concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federation of UAE Chambers and the Lithuanian Industrialists Union. This MoU aims to boost economic cooperation in industry, trade, investment, and technology, facilitating the exchange of expertise and enhancing trade relations.
The UAE-Lithuania Business Forum, held alongside the JEC meeting, provided further opportunities to explore investment prospects in various sectors, including energy. H.E. Bin Touq encouraged Lithuanian businesses to leverage the UAEโs strategic location and competitive business environment to expand operations and investments.
The successful meeting sets a promising precedent for future collaboration, positioning both nations as key partners in advancing global energy and sustainability goals.
