UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has joined hands with LONGi Green Energy Technology Co. Ltd., and solarized the Bolan Medical Complex in Balochistan.Expected to generate approximately 1.16 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, this project will meet the entire energy needs of one of the provinceโ€™s largest hospitals. Switching to solar energy will also reduce carbon emissions by 468 tonnes each year and save an estimated Rs. 70 million in energy costs, significantly improving sustainable healthcare access for both Afghan refugees and local residents.

LONGi provided advanced Hi-MO 9 modules for the project, featuring HPBC 2.0 technology that enables power output of up to 670W and conversion efficiency of up to 24.8%, even under harsh conditions. At a ceremony held Tuesday at Bolan Medical Complex, key officials including Special Secretary Health Department Mr. Shehak Baloch, UNHCR Representative Ms. Philippa Candler, and Commissioner for Afghan Refugees Mr. Arbab Talib emphasized the project’s impact. Candler noted that the initiative underscores UNHCRโ€™s enduring commitment to the host communities that have long welcomed refugees.
