WAA Solar Limited has expanded its footprint in Indiaโs distributed renewable energy segment by securing 48.15 MW of feeder-level solar projects in Madhya Pradesh under the government-backed PM-KUSUM scheme.
The company has signed seven power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited for the development of solar projects aimed at agricultural feeder solarisation under Component C of the PM-KUSUM Scheme.
The projects, awarded at tariffs ranging from โน2.73 to โน2.75 per unit, will supply clean power over a 25-year period, providing WAA Solar with long-term revenue visibility while supporting rural power infrastructure in the state.
The latest project win marks a strategic step for the company as it strengthens its position in decentralised solar deploymentโa segment gaining traction as India accelerates rural energy transition and agricultural power reforms.
Feeder solarisation under PM-KUSUM is designed to reduce dependence on conventional grid electricity for agricultural operations while enabling state utilities to lower subsidy burdens and improve supply reliability for farmers.
Industry observers note that the move aligns WAA Solar with Indiaโs growing focus on decentralised clean energy systems, as state governments increasingly push for localised solar generation to meet rising rural electricity demand.
With Madhya Pradesh emerging as a key solar market in India, the addition of these projects further reinforces the stateโs renewable energy expansion and highlights the growing role of distributed solar infrastructure in Indiaโs broader energy transition.
