The solar park is the first project in Uttar Pradesh to evacuate renewable energy through the Green Energy Corridor-II (GEC-II) network, a dedicated transmission infrastructure initiative designed to facilitate large-scale integration of renewable power into the state’s electricity grid.

Located in the Bundelkhand region, the project spans approximately 282 acres and is connected through a dedicated 7-kilometre, 132-kV transmission line. The facility is expected to generate more than 167 million units of clean electricity annually, enough to meet the power requirements of nearly 140,000 households while reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 120,000 tonnes each year.

According to the company, the project was commissioned within four months of signing the power purchase agreement, reflecting accelerated execution and coordination among project stakeholders.

The commissioning is expected to support the broader objectives of Uttar Pradesh’s Green Energy Corridor-II initiative, under which the state is investing in transmission infrastructure to facilitate the evacuation of nearly 4 GW of renewable energy capacity from the Bundelkhand region.

Sunsure Energy stated that the project strengthens its renewable energy portfolio in Uttar Pradesh, where the company now operates approximately 365 MWp of solar capacity across multiple facilities. The company plans to expand its operational capacity in the state to 500 MW by the end of FY26.

The project also aligns with Sunsure Energy’s strategy of supplying renewable electricity to commercial and industrial consumers through long-term power purchase agreements. The company serves a range of industrial customers seeking to reduce carbon emissions and increase the use of clean energy in their operations.

Beyond solar generation, Sunsure Energy is also developing a 125 MW / 500 MWh battery energy storage system in Uttar Pradesh as part of its efforts to support grid stability and renewable energy integration.

Industry observers view the Mahoba solar project as a key step in accelerating Uttar Pradesh’s clean energy transition, demonstrating the readiness of the state’s transmission infrastructure to support future utility-scale renewable energy and energy storage developments.
