The MoU was formalized in the presence of Rajasthan’s Chief Minister, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, and Col Rajyavardhan Rathore, the Hon’ble Minister for Industry & Commerce, among senior officials. This collaboration underscores the state’s commitment to industrial growth and energy sustainability, involving comprehensive investments across the power value chain—from generation to transmission and distribution (T&D) reforms.

Key highlights of the MoU include:

  • An investment of nearly ₹1.2 lakh crore, with approximately ₹75,000 crore allocated for renewable energy projects.
  • Development of 10,000 MW of renewable energy capacity, comprising 6,000 MW solar and 4,000 MW hybrid, across Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Jodhpur.
  • Establishment of a 2,000 MW solar module manufacturing facility in Jodhpur, with an investment of ₹2,000 crore to enhance India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities.
  • Investments totaling nearly ₹30,000 crore in modernizing the State’s transmission and distribution infrastructure.
  • Exploration of opportunities for developing a nuclear power plant.
  • A proposed ₹1,000 crore investment to establish 100,000 EV charging points throughout Rajasthan, supporting the transition to electric mobility.
  • Rooftop solar installations for 1 million households, aligning with the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD of Tata Power, emphasized that the partnership reflects a shared vision for a low-carbon, resilient energy ecosystem in Rajasthan. He stated, “By utilizing our expertise across the entire power sector value chain, we aim to support Rajasthan’s energy goals and create economic opportunities for its people.”

The MoU envisions reliable and clean electricity access for every household and industry in Rajasthan. It is expected to position the state as a leading renewable energy hub, significantly contributing to India’s ambitious goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070.

The initiative is poised to create over 28,000 direct jobs and stimulate local industries in solar manufacturing, infrastructure development, and renewable energy innovations. Furthermore, the integration of renewables is anticipated to lower energy costs for both industries and consumers, making Rajasthan an attractive destination for green investments.

Tata Power has a strong presence in Rajasthan, having commissioned 1 GW of solar projects and 185 MW of wind projects, alongside 130 MW of rooftop solar installations. The company also manages the 340 km Bikaner-Neemrana Transmission Project, which evacuates 7.7 GW of renewable power from the state.
